Helping people

and workplaces

flourish.

Flourish Psychological Services – delivering psychological support for individual adults, wellbeing services for organisations and specialist supervision and mentoring for mental health professionals.

Our individual treatments are offered face to face, online or via the telephone for your convenience, offering several evidence‑based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR). The approach used will depend on what you’re struggling with and what’s most likely to help you feel better. Together, we’ll choose the type of therapy that matches your needs and goals.

Flourish Psychological Services Ltd was founded by myself, Dr Sarah Toft in 2017. Having worked in the NHS since qualifying from the University of Leicester Doctorate in Clinical Psychology training in 2003, I have supported adults through a wide range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and the impact of traumatic experiences such as childhood abuse and domestic violence. I also work with people navigating bereavement and loss and work-related difficulties such as redundancy and trauma in the workplace. My approach is steady, compassionate and grounded in years of clinical experience and post-qualification training in Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR).

Sessions are offered online and from a convenient venue a short distance from Newark on Trent. The clinic is ideally located and easily accessible from North Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Mansfield, Gainsborough, Grantham, Retford, Worksop and surrounds. The clinic has on site, free parking. Appointments available in and outside of office hours.

We support organisations by providing practical, evidence-based mental health services designed to improve staff wellbeing and reduce stress-related absence. We offer bespoke mental health workshops, individual psychological therapy for employees, organisation-wide mental health awareness and specialist support following workplace trauma or critical incidents. Our services are tailored to your organisation’s needs, whether you want to enhance your manager’s understanding of mental health difficulties, or you want to ensure your employees have access to professional help when they need it most. We can work with you to create a solution that fits your team and your goals.

We offer two key services for mental health professionals, built on experience and collaboration. Clinical supervision provides a space to reflect on your therapeutic work, strengthen your practice and feel supported in the challenges that come with clinical work. Mentoring and consultation offer guidance for developing or enhancing your private practice – whether you’re starting out, or looking to grow with confidence and clarity.

Corporate Services

Mental health problems affect 1 in 6 British workers each year and mental health difficulties are the leading cause of absence from work. We recognise that for each of our corporate clients, looking after their employees wellbeing is a vital part of their business success and as such we provide a wide range of services to corporate clients.

Mental Health Professionals

Being able to bounce ideas off someone who has been there and done it, is a great way of developing our own expertise, whether this is clinically, or moving into private practice. Sarah has a long history of providing clinical supervision to qualified and trainee mental health professionals and finds this an immensely enjoyable part of her role.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic approach used to help people process distressing memories and reduce the emotional intensity connected to them. Although EMDR is well‑known for its effectiveness in treating trauma and PTSD, it can also be helpful for anxiety, depression, phobias and performance anxiety.

When a traumatic or highly distressing event occurs, it can overwhelm your usual ability to cope. Instead of being stored as a normal memory, the experience can become “stuck”, unprocessed, vivid and easily triggered. This means that when the memory is recalled, or something reminds you of it, you may re‑experience the same feelings, sensations and images as if the event were happening again.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is perhaps one of the most well-known and well-researched of the psychological treatments. It can help with many difficulties, including depression, anxiety, panic, stress, phobias, obsessive thoughts and behaviours, and feeling overwhelmed or “stuck.”

CBT combines cognitive therapy, that is, how you think, with behavioural therapy, how you act or behave….
